Resigned!

It's not the happiest moment of my life of course.. that I have just resigned my position as a programmer in Sigma. Well it all started when my dad called for a family trip that I have been dreaming of for years. More than that, four complete families are going to join us. This is something I would not lose; moreover, I'm afraid this will not happen again and I doubt of any other trip next tim, ever...

I've been enjoying my times working here; nice environment (except for the smoking-enabled mode), friends, seniors that have been such good co-workers and companions in Sigma. I'm so grateful for the opportunity of having worked here.

At the other hand.. this might be the solution to the problem itself; being so far from all that I hold dear. ^_^ I'll try to get a nearby-job after the family trip.

Wish me luck.. ^_^

Dizzy day with C#

I haven't been doing anything related to work today. I've finished my CR and the test script as well. Luckily I've got my laptop here at the office.

So I've been doing this MovieBuster project from start using the new Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express Edition and Micorosoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I wanted to use VB, but I've got problem in installing the new VB.Net Express. Maybe I tried to install online and cancelled it once.

And it has been a wonderful day to code in C#. I've got no RPG for today.. Haha.. ^_^
But I've also just got a headache and dizzy head. Maybe it was becoz of the coding.. ;-p

I hope I can finish it soon enough for profile in a month. ^_^

Wireless world

And here I am again.. online on my laptop wirelessly via my office's WiFi hot spot that I just found out an hour ago, just half a minute before even I used it.. ^_^

A bit unsecured though.. that anyone could practically connect to the network and gain access. There was no passkey etc.. ^_^

However.. pretty impressing that I can actually get online wirelessly.. ^_^

the sound of Christmas

Christmas is coming soon.. and I'm still stucked here in the working world. So hopeless and missing all home, friends, families, and church activities especially Christmas prep.

I'm recalling the Christmas years that I have passed before with the ones I love, families, and friends; sharing Christmas... -_-
I miss decorating the chapel, choir exercises, arranging Christmas party and service.. chilling with friends.. holding candles with friends and families while singing Silent Night.

Now that I'm lonely.. Have I been making wrong decision of coming all the way to Jakarta and work? Abandoning everything I hold dear... To think about it, this is the first Christmas for the past decade that I am not at hometown.

May God fill this lonely heart with joy...
Cheer up.. Christmas is coming.. ^_^

Documentation "IS" important

I've got this idea since college times when doing projects, but it was just theorical and I didn't really grasped the idea of it coz I've never really got into trouble becoz of lack of documentation [well except for grades] [and I've always been a hardcore supporter of a robust and complete documentation during ever].

I've gone lots of troublesome tasks just because there were no documentation available. So the best learning experience while working I've got until now is "documentation". Someone will eventually read your code.. so do spend extra time for documentation [or if you are the boss, do get someone to do it]. System design is important for knowledge transportability.

You might think that you are doing small system, but eventually that small system grows big. And when it's big, you'll realize that the processes in it has gone too complex to be understood by just reading the code.

Surely I've learned lots of things here.. From the entire process of making systems, technical skill [of course.. ^_^] and I'm ready for others.. ^_^

btw.. it's a robust company with so well created designs and system development cycle with all the paperworks.. man I just like the ide of being so organised.. I'm so proud of this local company of mine that I can finally say: Made in Indonesia.. ^_^

instant blackout

and this is one heck of experience having a blackouts in office building (considering it is a huge building.. rented for not-just-companies, but big companies). And incidents that I haven't experienced for a long time had just happened again; I didn't save my work. Arrgghh.. @_@
My will to work just simply degraded to the minimum value.. It was a spreadsheet documents that I'm working to compare the files in one library to another (with my so called "program sama tak sama" to compare it)

Well it didn't just happen once, but guess what.. twice.. Fortunately I've finished my work before the second power-cut and saved it already..

What a day...

The trip for my graduation in KL has been booked two ways so that I won't miss work the on the 9th.

And lastly but not least, I've got a call yesterday for another job interview on J2ME programmer on this coming Saturday; and this one is located in the center of the city (downtown). Well I've got nothing to loose. Let's see if this one is better.. ^_^ wish me luck guys..

long awaits

Today is not one of the best days of course.. For some reason I've been forced to wait in many occasions. Maybe I can say that I'm beginning to get tired of waiting.

It's not entirely not my fault though, but the situation seems to put me on the corner of the no-way-out.

On the other hand, live seems to get better for the past week. Besides I've got very much enough sleep for days.. There just doesn't seem to have any problem lately.. (and I'm really thankful and enjoying it very much)

I've been looking forward to seeing my classmates in KL on my graduation in December. So.. make sure u guys all r there eh? ^_^

Paint.NET

I just found out this apps called to modify image files. It may potentially grow to such capacity like Photoshop or other image manipulation program.

And more.. it's FREE!!!.. Yeah.. It started as student project and then grew (and still is growing) to be a mature application. You will require Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 to install and run.

Download here.

Working days [again -_-]

Holiday has once again gone.. and I'm here back to office. The same feeling of leaving home and dearest friends and families were coming around messing with my mind causing such bad mood for the day; especially when I took off the plane. I've got this crazy mind of mine shouting and demanding that I quit my job and go back to where I feel I belong..

Saying about the job, I still have my time here until 16th December to make up my mind if I still want to work here or not. Coz this probation period is soon to be over and if I sign another contract, I could be stuck here for another 9 months until 19th September 2006; and that's long way to go..

In contradictions... I've got too many parameters to argue about. The job here, the learning I want to do, the friends I've just got (the new guys from the training came today and we went for lunch ^_^) after almost 2 months almost alone.

Well.. it seems that I'll get stuck here if I don't get another job.. I'm dying for a higher salary here.. ;-p

Welcome back to work for everyone.. and enjoy your days. ^_^

Night shift.. -_-

Well.. I haven't blogged quite lately, have I?
I guess lot's of u have visited the site and grumbling "what the hell has this person been doin that he hasn't updated his blog. It's simply that I feel too lazy to blog lately in addition I've got nothing much to say. ;-p

Anyway.. today is the first night shift here and I've been in the office for 22 hours straight. Well I kindda liked it.. except that it was hell boring. I didn't even know if I should expect a catastrophe from the client so that we can get to work, or just sit here and surf the net and sleep (that's what I did.. haha.. ^_^)

I'm goin back hometown for a week tomorrow.. ^_^ and have been looking forward to that.
And have a nice days for all of u, especially those who celebrate Ramadan. ^_^

officially a month

And there goes a month.. I've been working for a month today.. ^_^
But I feel things have gone wrong in my work for today. Too many mistakes for a day.. (well not that many, but enough to make me feel uncomfortable for the day)

Just booked myself for my trip back hometown during Ramadhan.. ^_^ Hope that I can enjoy and refresh myself.. ^_^

My first CR

Wow.. after 3 weeks working, I've got my first CR (Customer Request) to do actual work where I have to modify the current core system related to the customer (which is one of the bank) and adjust it to the needs (request). The due date was supposed to be on the 13th, but I finished it in less than half an hour (well it's just simple one.. I'm still new here..)

Still.. I feel good for that. ^_^

The day begins with Mr. Bean

Monday again.. what a life in here.. Weekend goes fast enough to wake me up to real life.. working..

And a must activity just before I depart for work is a 12 minutes of Mr. Bean the Animated Series on Disney Chanell Asia.

And the life goes on...

FF7: Advent Children

Now this is surely a great animation after FF: The Spirit Within; and I can tell it's much better. Too bad I've not been playing the game.. so I had no idea what the hell was going on in the movie. However, great animation effects though.. ^_^

I got the movie file from a friend in office who happened to have it. So since I've watched the trailer (which is quite tempting) ^_^, I thought it would be nice to see it.

So at least I've got some entertainment.. ^_^
Torrent link here.

Boring...

And here I am.. Again.. blogging for nothing..
Have been reading too much for the past 2 and a half weeks with not an actual workload has been given to me.

I've been helping a senior in standardization project for the system; just simple things like copying selected files from one library to another, just that it's not so easy like in Windows.. ^_^

Can't wait to get back home.. 40 minutes left.. ^_^

Greetings for Ramadan

For all of my Muslim friends: Ahmed, Mukmin, Asrul, Shaheen, and everyone in Malaysia, and also to the team I'm working in Sigma (Core Banking Team 3)... Have a fulfilling Ramadan and may all the blessings upon you all. ^_^

Bali Bombing 2

Yesterday, 11 days before the island was due to commemorate the third anniversary of the first attack of Bali Bombing on 12 October 2002, another incident has happened. Three separate organised bombing of different locations in Bali occurred. And this time they've got an amateur video of the seconds of the bombing.

I do respect for ideologies, but still I do not understand this action of terrorism. Suicide bombing? Killing yourself is a sin and now other people's life is also in the risk. This action has not only hurt the physical body of human, but also the country (Indonesia); for less tourist would visit the island, it is obviously not a good thing for the country.

Just for additional note, Bali police squad is claimed to be the best police squad of the nation; and still this incident occurs. :-(

Still in the ideology, why can't some people just accept the difference between all of us? I've played around with many different people from different nationality, religion, and even custom and tradition and as long as the 'respect' is still there, it won't go so bad. And if people respect others, less conflict would occur. I still think of some parameters like those who suffers in the pressure of economy and other life matter, but still many survive the pressure and able to respect others.

^_^ Cheers..

G 30 S PKI

Gerakan 30 September PKI (Indonesian Communist Party Movement on 30th September 1965) has been quite of a history and had been on the textbooks in school until 1998. This incident describes six Indonesian high military officers (senior generals) and others were assassinated by the Indonesian Communist Party (Partai Komunis Indonesia).

The Strategic Commander of the Army, Major General Soeharto at that time was said to be the hero that wiped out the Communist party and used the situation to assume power. Tens of thousands of people suspected as Communist were killed.

Despite of the research and investigation of many parties internally or externally of Indonesia and after almost 40 years, this case is still a mystery.

AS/400 and RPG

I just met this machine virtually practically on19th Sept 2005 (my first day of work) and to tell you the truth, it was't fun.

This machine is basically a 'pain in the ass' for GUI users like Windows or Linux. The concepts of the operating system itself is different than the filesystem concepts in Windows or Linux.
You'll get yourself asking when u hear the terms library, file, object, member; which is just not the thing I've had in mind before.

Luckily, I don't have to access the AS/400 machine directly; instead, we can use some client access emulator like TN5250j for Linux (I'm using IBM eNetwork personal Communications AS/400 Client Access Express for Windows that comes from IBM itself)

The system display is just not graphical with so little colours (black for the background, green for the foreground, but some are blue or white ^_^)

But the worst part for me is basically the programming in AS/400, which is RPG (Report Program Generator). I know when some of you will think of the Role Player Game thingy, it is nothing like that. ^_^

It is by far the hardest one to do since assembly language in college. It even restrict you into column level of the programming.

Anyway.. I just started to enjoy it since yesterday, when I just got into it and suddenly, time to go home.. ^_^

Alrite then.. lunch time's over.. I'd better get back to work.

Friday, September 23, 2005

work and learn

Today is my fifth day i'm working here and it has been quite a fun place with such 'pain in the ass' Report Program Generator running on IBM AS/400 machine that I didn't know of in the first place.

Such a structured programming compared to other modern programming language like C, Java, especially VB.NET ^_^ that they even restrict the usage of the columns in a line (this was quite confusing for the first time), but things are getting better now. As of now, I am still officially learning the RPG, AS/400, and the CL (Control Language) Programming (like batch in Win32 and Shell programming in Linux).

OK then.. I'd better get back to work. Break time is over.. ^_^

Monday, September 19, 2005

first day @ work

Wow.. finally working days..
I have no idea of what am I supposed to do here.. It's totally new to me; the AS/400 machine from IBM, and a programming language called RPG (report program generator), which is purely structured and not free style (not only the rows, but also columns ^_^')

But I sure miss home right now.. thinking that I am so far from home, friends, special ones.. ^_^

But things are getting interesting from the job side; that I am learning new things.

Sunday, September 18, 2005

leavin home.. :-(

a nice group photo after the youth service. I'm gonna miss these times.. ^_^

RPG Programmer

Well I've got a job now in Jakarta.. with 3 months of probation, I'm gonna be an RPG programmer (so much of a programming language I've never heard of and running on a machine I've never even know it existed).

I'll start working on the 19th Sept.. and let's hope everything's great eh? ^_^'

Job interview

I've just received a phone call from Jakarta for a job interview from Sigma on Wednesday, 7th Sept 2005 (which is 2 days as of the phone call). I thought of this as an opportunity for me, so I made a few phone calls for my flight to the capital (in which I just heard of the place crash from Medan to Jakarta this morning.. ^_^') and I'm going tomorrow..

Crisis!!! [again]

Well.. not much of a news again eh?
My so called beloved country is being hit by another wave of economic problem.
This morning, the currency rate of IDR-USD fell to Rp11,100 per US$.

And I don't know where this came from but I heard that this crisis has been engineered by some people; and the smell of politics appear in this case.

And if these people succeed in their mission [and I don't expect that], there might come a chance of the national catastrophe like those happened in 1998 [again, this is just my thought and I pray that it will not happen].

the forgotten

Another depressing day has come again. Just when I think that life's gonna be smooth, I feel like shit again. Abandoned.. forgotten.. (-_-)

Is it me or the others? Doesn't anybody remember my existence?
I'll think of this matter more for me since I have felt this too often. Maybe I have too much thought in me; maybe I was the bad guy all this while.

I am looking forward for a better day tomorrow...
May your days r better.. ^_^ cheers..

Working life

Well.. I'm finally in the mood to work [and this is a volunteer work] to set up the infrastructure of the information system for school. I just want to help and at the same time, do something that is worth doing. And I just started to enjoy it.

So.. my life for the past 1 week:
  • Woke up 7.15 after my dad have his shower, got ready and went out with my dad with his bike (he's goin for coffee every morning.. ^_^)
  • Started working on the database connectivity.. (they're using MS SQL Server) and it just got more interesting since the conn worked and the success of the data retrieval were actually working
  • Breakfast at 9-10 am, started working again.. lunch at 1-2.. and if I'm in the mood, get to work again.. ^_^

Complexities of life

Sigh... What a day… Sometimes I wonder whether my presence at home triggers problems around me. I can’t really say much of these personal issues, but I do feel that way very much. When things are just going well, some other things ruin the good feeling.

The jobless state I am, the families, my love issues, and again related to families; such complexity of life suddenly appears before me. For months when I am not here studying in KL, these problems didn’t appear. As if I am a problem magnet or something. :-(

May God forgive me for everything that I have done wrong, and to everyone… [I just feel like saying that right now]

I hope and pray that everything goes smoothly from now; I’ll be more careful in my action and words for I don’t want to hurt others’ feeling. ^_^
