PDA Reset

Bad day as I arrive in Rantau Prapat.. I dropped my PDA Phone and accidentally initiate phone reset. All of my data including important contacts, appointments, notes, and messages are gone.. forever..

I have not been synchronizing my phone with my laptop for months since I recently formatted my laptop and decided not to install pirated software. I'm now using my original Windows XP Home Edition, OpenOffice.org, Paint.NET, and lots of other free stuffs.

Anyway.. back to the phone, I'm so stressed out and suddenly so not in the mood to do anything. I plan to get another phone as I return from this trip.

Remote site trip: Dumai

I'm heading for Dumai in this week to implement the weighing system. I could say that it's mature enough to go live in Dumai site. We're still dealing with some problems in handling material FFB for other sites though. Hope that I can finish it while implementing the system in Dumai.

Installed Citadel @ office

I managed to successfully install Citadel Groupware on Ubuntu in office. I asked for a junk PC so I can play around with.

Used the Easy Install and sorted it out nicely.
I had some problem before with an old machine; at first they gave me an old machine since it was just a testing, but that machine was troubled indeed.

So the entire IT department is playing around with the groupware. We even have hilariously funny discussions.. ^_^

Good laugh for the day.

PHG Christmas 2007

Some of the new employees of PHG came up with an idea of celebrating Christmas in office. I don't know how but last month, the put me in charge of the event after office hour.

This is the day, though I felt somehow reluctant doing it, it turned out very much successful party. It was incredibly fun if I may say.

Lots of feedbacks that the same event is expected next year.

Greenpeace & PHS

Greenpeace activists block palm oil shipment from Dumai which carries palm oil from Permata Hijau Sawit in the protest against forest destruction blamed on plantations.

References:
I've got not much knowledge of palm oils, but I know one thing that biodiesel is one of feasible solutions since petrol, that it can be reproduced. However, after some little reading, It seems that many environmentalists are against palm oil; that the cost of biodiesel is far more devastating towards the environment.

PHG visit to Sahabat Anak Orphanage

With minimum organisation of some people working in PHG Medan office, we manage to gather some cash to help the orphans in Panti Asuhan Sahabat Anak.

This is one of those in needs; I mean indeed.. they even sleep on ground without pillows. Can't live without helping them.

Panti Asuhan Sahabat Anak holds 35 orphans (October 2007) of which most of them were the kids who lost their family during the tsunami incident in Indonesia. They live in a very limited space, limited supply of food.

For those who wants to help, please visit them at:
Panti Asuhan Sahabat Anak
Jalan Pantai Timur, Gang Makmur No. 4
(Depan Perumahan Taman Hako Indah)
Medan, Indonesia

SAP Go Live (again)

Dejavu?
I do hope this time we're doing it right.. Cause most of us have been doing lots of preparations in this time.

However, despite of the so-called mature preparations, I still hanging around in remote site doing nothing because the other modules are still arguing bout lots of things.

I myself am in the remote site now, currently online on MSN using the remote desktop connection to my desktop computer in the HQ office.

Hope that I can get back in the weekend; it's so boring here...

Dumai, Jambi, Bengkulu

First time going to a long trip; and also first time being in a car for a 12-hours-trips
Got myself to Pekan Baru for some city sightseeing (I've never been here too)

Reached Jambi, set up the WAN, and get back on the road for another 12 hours trip to Bengkulu.

Seriously.. I don't think this piece of PC can even make it to the museum. As if it were buried inside a tomb or something.

Still got the chance of seeing beautiful beaches in Bengkulu before heading back to Jambi.

And this is the best lunch I've ever had on prawns... Look at the size man..

Online remotely

I feel like I'm in Medan office despite of the hundreds of kilometers from Medan. The network is up here. I can remotely use my PC at office using my laptop. And the best part is.. getting connected to the internet at high speed even in a remote place where I didn't even imagine of doing it at the first time I came here.

Going to another 2 remote sites for the next half week. Don't know if I can get online there or not. I should though.

Leave granted :-)

With the prayers and workaround, I manage to get leave for 2 days (23rd and 26th Oct) for the Youth Camp.

Never... ever.. underestimate the power of prayer and fasting. In fact, I just read in the news that based on research, those whom are prayed more by the loved ones are proved to be healthier. I can't recall where I read it, but I'm pretty sure that I have seen the article.

Have a nice day.. ^_^

Anoter half-way SAP implementation

I'm assigned to another trip to the same remote site for SAP implementation. And this time I'm bringing my laptop with me (I found out that it would take at least a week). So it happened to be a whole week (2-6 Oct 2006)

The same story this time as previously; as expected, my module couldn't run smoothly coz MM didn't run smoothly.

Had a heavy flu on Thursday.. couldn't work properly.. I was supposed to supervise the production operative to key in data into SAP system; so I ended up in bed. Took some medicines and another happy good morning the next day. ^_^

Came back on Saturday early morning (5 am) and reached office before 1 pm. I drove half way (3 and half hours, bout almost 200 km). Still half ill.

A week has gone without being in the main office. ^_^

Transporting myself to work

Aq Awi is now staying in Medan, which caused me to turn to other alternatives of getting myself to work everyday. Fortunately, Hui's transport has an empty seat... so I decided to go with her.

Soft Go-Live SAP

A beautiful sunset scene taken on the oil tank at the remote site. I went up alone on Tuesday, 8 Aug 2006 and had a good time up there.

Made the others went up on the same spot two days later and had some pictures. The sunset wasn't as good as it had been on Tuesday. We've got enough laugh up there though.. ^_^

Rather professionally disappointed regarding the soft go-live schedule; everything was screwed up due to lack of preparation from one of the functionals: the material. The PP and CO module had to wait and sitting around becoz no data in the system yet. So we ended up training the users again (which is good coz I there were two PP guys that didn't know anything about SAP so I had to explain from the beginning).

Personally, I've got good times there; got to know some of the friends from the other department, chill around. ^_^

Took off from the remote site at 05:15 and heading to Medan; had breakfast at Status Quo (it's the name of the restaurant; excellent seafood though).

Reached Medan at noon, got home at 15:00, and straight to the church for the Youth Fellowship's anniversary celebration preparation.

Going Live at remote site

The SAP Project is goin live in a few days.. and I'm going back to Blok Songo, a place short distance from Kota Pinang, North Sumatra; 1º 53' North, 100º 04' East, 162 miles in direct line from where I'm staying, more than 350 km of road distance, 7-8 hours drive.

Here is the map from Encarta and Google Earth.

Nubika Visit

My first remote site trip with the SAP consultant.. Have been looking forward to this trip ever since I joined the PP module; I've been so curious of the production process.

Departed on 17th and came back on 20th July.

We were supposed to have a 2 nights stay, but I seemed to stay there together with Erdy to ensure the network connection is linked properly prior to SAP Project Go Live on 1st August.

The factory is located at Kota Pinang, approximately an hour drive from Rantau Prapat.

Had a pit stop at sideroad for durians.. ^_^

Ever seen how CPO looks like?

Palm fruit...

And this is a sample of palm fruit that can produce lots of CPO.

Pretty wild air pollution eh?

And not missing a group photo of course..

Out of the 11 people that departed from Medan, two of us were left there to fix the problem.. While the rest went back driving, we took the train.

It's my workplace with the SAP Frontend on my screen. ^_^

My office space

Snack time is coming and I'll take this chance to take a picture of my partition. It's not too big (1.75 m2) but comfortable enough to work compared to the previous job in Jakarta that gave me so little space.

Today's snack is kindda special. Pasta.. Haha..
