Firefox & Thunderbird

My direct supervisor had me researched for alternatives in using free office software for corporate use.

In this case, we're trying to minimize (and if possible to zero) the use of Microsoft Office products. Thus, I've got into Thunderbird, a powerful email client that is most importantly free and robust.

Installed it, and took me bout less than an hour to get a hang of it and finally decided to make it my default email client against Microsoft Outlook 2003.

After a day using it, I found some fresh the look (themes), and fast loading speed (despite of the huge size of the mails after I imported from Outlook).

I feel like checking emails every half a minute with Thunderbird.

After seeing the fresh skins of Thunderbird, I just remember how not-so-fresh my Firefox's theme.. So I decided to have another browsing session for some Firefox themes.. and it turned out to be fun.

I've been using Firefox since college though.. So not much of excitement anymore..

Suicide updated

I've got 3 new scary pictures of the suicide incident that would blow some of ur mind uploaded (coz I know some of u r used to it, especially those in medical studies. ;-p).

the D-day

The big day is coming..
Time for a big prep.. ^_^

And the D-Day...

Final rehearsal...

The ushers were getting ready for the mass...

It's me shaking hand with one of the council who supports us the most in this event.

Backstage...

Even those from the elder people were coming to give a hand...

The songleaders...

The duet out of these 2 young girls are so excellent; what a talent... few of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.

And the main time-frame... Ps Jose Carol... It has been a great evening; many were touched. We all can make a difference!!!

The celebration... We've done it.. and it was a success...

Rehearsal & Briefing

There were basically 2 teams: Team 1 for the show (songleaders, music, dance, schedule, etc), and Team 2 for ushers & security.

Having the Team 1 had their early rehearsal and the ushers briefng running concurrently was not a bad idea.

I can see the coordination is working quite well in here.. Looking forward for the d-day in 4 days. ^_^

is ur life alive already?

[--- Sorry guys.. this post is in Indonesian only. ^_^ ---]

Apakah hidup Anda sudah hidup? would u like to have some answers to life?

Persekutuan Pemuda Gereja Methodist Indonesia Getsemani Binjai mengundang siapa saya yang ingin menghadiri acara KKR pada:
  • hari Senin, 21 Agustus 2006 pukul 18:30 WIB
  • di Lapangan PKMI Binjai (Jalan Jend. Sudirman 136, Binjai, Sumatera Utara)
Kami mengundang Pdt. Jose Carol sebagai pembicara; and just to let u all know.. waktu di ONYC, banyak yang nyesel ngak ikutan dan banyak yang ngak menyesal ikutan (justru dapet banyak sekali). ^_^

W sendiri pertama kali denger dia khotbah waktu ama w meninggal; just a 10 minutes sermon but it made a great impact to almost everyone there.

Spread the words of God... ^_^

Durians..

Had a meeting at 2 pm for the 21st and had many ideas coming in, put things straight and chill out for a real weekend.

To think about it, I usually have my real weekend for only a few hours instead of two days. sigh. -_-

Had a good time chatting with friends, having durians (sorry I didn't bring my camera ^_^) and of course, great laugh. ^__________^

Reached home at 9 and an old friend called and we talked for almost an hour. Good to hear from him; brings back good old days.

P3MI's Anniversary

After a 2 weeks of planning, the fellowship is deploying its celebration party. It's the first special occasion since the new comitee went up.

Exhausting evening for sure, but we seemed to have full support from the board council (they came too).. ^_^ There were about 125 attended, where the max hit we've had for the past 6 weeks was only 90 people. Good start. ^_^

Soft Go-Live SAP

A beautiful sunset scene taken on the oil tank at the remote site. I went up alone on Tuesday, 8 Aug 2006 and had a good time up there.

Made the others went up on the same spot two days later and had some pictures. The sunset wasn't as good as it had been on Tuesday. We've got enough laugh up there though.. ^_^

Rather professionally disappointed regarding the soft go-live schedule; everything was screwed up due to lack of preparation from one of the functionals: the material. The PP and CO module had to wait and sitting around becoz no data in the system yet. So we ended up training the users again (which is good coz I there were two PP guys that didn't know anything about SAP so I had to explain from the beginning).

Personally, I've got good times there; got to know some of the friends from the other department, chill around. ^_^

Took off from the remote site at 05:15 and heading to Medan; had breakfast at Status Quo (it's the name of the restaurant; excellent seafood though).

Reached Medan at noon, got home at 15:00, and straight to the church for the Youth Fellowship's anniversary celebration preparation.

Dinner with Elly's family and Indonesian APIITians

Met Elly after months of her study in Jakarta and ended up having dinner with the entire family of hers. Hui's been really close with her though since I first introduced both of them; they've been sharing almost anything.

And to the reunion of the old friends of Indonesian APIITians together with Jai's belated birthday. ^_^

Linux and learning

Had a chat with Alex today which reminded me of my desire of learning Linux years ago. First met him in a forum which eventually got us friends.

A great youth with sharing personality he is, that he shares his knowledge in one of the best online learning site in Indonesia, IlmuKomputer.com.

Read some of his article; brief, easily understandable, and of course making me more of wanting to learn more. To think about it, I've not been learning new technical things lately. I've been confronted with lots of SAP stuffs and more of managerial analysis (that's because I've been listening to my IT Manager quite ofter in his discussion with others and even often, both of us).

Don't know when can I actually catch a class in MCSE or CCNA since the SAP Project in my company is going live. Eh.. btw, we're not going live yet since lots of data has not been transported to the new system. My module is ready, just waiting for the others. We're going to remote site (again) next week, which they scheduled on Sunday.

Man.. I don't like the way they plan it; they're stealing my weekend so that we can start working on Monday morning in the remote site (it's 8 hours trip); and the worst is that they OT is not worth the money. :-|

Going Live at remote site

The SAP Project is goin live in a few days.. and I'm going back to Blok Songo, a place short distance from Kota Pinang, North Sumatra; 1º 53' North, 100º 04' East, 162 miles in direct line from where I'm staying, more than 350 km of road distance, 7-8 hours drive.

Here is the map from Encarta and Google Earth.

Nubika Visit

My first remote site trip with the SAP consultant.. Have been looking forward to this trip ever since I joined the PP module; I've been so curious of the production process.

Departed on 17th and came back on 20th July.

We were supposed to have a 2 nights stay, but I seemed to stay there together with Erdy to ensure the network connection is linked properly prior to SAP Project Go Live on 1st August.

The factory is located at Kota Pinang, approximately an hour drive from Rantau Prapat.

Had a pit stop at sideroad for durians.. ^_^

Ever seen how CPO looks like?

Palm fruit...

And this is a sample of palm fruit that can produce lots of CPO.

Pretty wild air pollution eh?

And not missing a group photo of course..

Out of the 11 people that departed from Medan, two of us were left there to fix the problem.. While the rest went back driving, we took the train.

Back to the rule of jungle @ traffic

Okay.. the school holiday season is over and you can almost see it even on the road. The traffic is back to the way it was.. hectic. I have seemed to enjoy the traffic for the last one month with less vehicles around; and less swearing the traffic criminals. Okay.. back to work.

I'm visiting the company's factory on Monday; as this is my first trip, I'm pretty much looking forward to it. ^_^

Weekend is coming.. and lots of appointments to attend.. seems that my ass is gonna be in high temperature this weekend for lots of meetings and discussions.. ^_^

Happy weekend.

Revival

Okay.. it has been quite some time since I've blogged.. Been busy with work, church, etc..
The SAP project is behind schedule in overall, but from my own module, it's going pretty much well. The only drawback is that my PP module is too much dependent on the MM module, which is a bit messy, where the settings of the material master data are not well yet.

So.. I've been doing user manuals, a bit of ABAP programs here and there (and a bit of copy-pasting too.. ^_^).

The youth revival programme's driving me busy.. The music team doesn't really get along too well, brochures and printings are all messed up, and we've got roughly 5 weeks until "the" day.

Had a chat with the king 2 days ago and that gave me a much better feeling after a few months of his absence in the cyber world. I've been really missing the times of the brotherlins in KL.. Hoping that days like that would happen again some time.. some where ^_^

Vera's sweet 17

Happy birthday my little cousin.. the youngest cousin of mine.. ^_^
Took some pictures in the mall. They gave us some edited version of it but I prefer the original one; looks more natural. Haha..

And a dinner at France @ Cemara with a cake from Yen2's Cia2 with a drawing of (intended-to-be) Vera's face; at least the eyebrows are thick with a dark reddish (and not forgetting the thick) lips. ^_^

Feeling so exhausted today.. Reached home at 10 and gonna do a little more codings at home and I wont be asleep so early..
